Playground Review: Colony Park, Wyomissing

By Emily Emerson September 30, 2025

Colony Park
2519 Cromwell Drive, Wyomissing

🌟 Playground Spotlight: Colony Park 🌟

Another family favorite—and for good reason! This playground offers a little something for everyone.

🛝 Play Features:

Two climbing structures (one designed specifically for younger kids!)

Mini monkey bars

Baby and regular swings

🏀 Sports Amenities:

Basketball court

Tennis courts

Baseball diamond

Beach volleyball court (or as my kids call it—the giant sandbox!)

🍉 Other Perks:

Covered picnic pavilion

On-site parking lot

Convenient location just off Broadcasting Road

This is a great spot for a playdate, picnic, or just to burn off some energy!

⚠️ Parent Tip:

If you have a little one who likes to run, keep a close eye on them. While there is fencing around the baseball diamond, it doesn’t fully close off access to Broadcasting Road. If your child is vehicle-obsessed (like mine was!), it can be a little nerve-wracking.

Are there any bathrooms?
Yes, they are attached to the pavilion and always locked, to my knowledge. But there is a singular port-o-potty next to the parking lot, just a bit of a walk away. It's relatively clean.

How much parking is there?
There is a small lot (26 spaces and 1 handicapped space) off of Cromwell Drive, with a macadam pathway leading to the play area.

Is it handicapped accessible?
No. I have pretty high standards for accessibility, and I think this playground would be difficult for someone in a wheelchair or otherwise differently-abled to navigate. There is a decent walk to get to the actual play area, slight levels/curbs between grass and mulch, and the mulch would be tough to move around in. In addition, there are no wheelchair accessible swings or access to the jungle gym.

Are dogs allowed?
I saw no signs indicating otherwise.

Park Amenities:
Trashcans - YES
Recycling - NO
Biking/Walking Trail - NO
Picnic Tables - YES (15)
Open fields - YES
Shade/Trees - YES but not over the play area itself. There is a pavilion with shaded tables, one large tree that provides shade over a bench, and a couple smaller scattered trees. All play equipment is not shaded.
Water fountains/Vending machine - NO
Ball fields - YES (baseball, volleyball, tennis, basketball)
