11th & Pike Playground, Reading
There is lots of open space at this park to run around, kick a ball, have a catch, or have a picnic. There are slides, equipment to climb on, swings, tunnels, and see-saws. A small paved path is good for rollerblading. It is worth noting that while there is a lot of fun equipment for kids, there was a lot of trash when my son and I visited, including empty beer bottles.
Alsace Township Playground
Tucked away, this fenced-in playground offers a wonderful summer playground program, has a lot of shade, and is very clean and quiet. Amenities include a bike rack, 2 baby swings, 4 regular swings, hop scotch, and 2 separate play structures with slides, monkey bars and a round-about.
Berkshire Heights Playground, Wyomissing
This is a small, but well-maintained park & playground with 2 baseball fields, and play equipment including monkey bars, 2 regular swings & 2 baby swings, 2 slides, a small see-saw and a few other things to play on.
Berks Nature- The Nature Place
Breneman Park
Right off of Reedy Rd, in Sinking Spring you will come across Breneman Park. This park features a baseball field, basketball court, covered pavilion with picnic tables, plenty of green space, a playground for kids under 5, and a larger playground for kids ages 5+.

*This park has little to no shade! Be prepared for hot equipment in the summer & lots of sunscreen!

**Pavilion can be rented for parties/events. The summer playground program is also held here.

Cacoosing Meadows Park

Cacoosing Meadows Park is a great spot to play & explore!
There is a paved path that connects the Reedy Road and State Hill Road parking lots — perfect for walking, biking, or strollers.
Open Green Space- ideal for soccer, running, picnics, kite flying, or just soaking up some sunshine.
Cacoosing Creek- Usually calm and shallow — great for wading, fishing, or a refreshing splash on a warm day.
Playground- Swings, slides, climbing structure — plus a basketball court and covered pavilion for group gatherings or a shaded break.
Restrooms- Porta potties are available near the Reedy Road parking lot.
Pack a lunch, bring the kids, and enjoy one of Sinking Spring’s many outdoor spots!

Carsonia Park Playground
Right outside of the Antietam Pool you will find this adorable, fenced in playground, with a covered pavilion inside! This newly renovated playground is great for younger kids (2-12) , as it has two separate play structures, is fully enclosed, and equipment that isn't always found at local parks. Outside of the fenced area you will find a baseball field, green space, basketball courts, and volleyball courts.

Chickadee Nature Discovery Area- Nolde Forest

City Park
Colony Playground, Wyomissing
The major pluses would be the variety of equipment for different age groups, large spaces and multiple ball fields, great visibility from all angles to keep an eye on your children, and good maintenance.

Drexelwood Park

Tucked away behind a neighborhood of homes you will find Drexelwood. This park features a paved path around the perimeter- great for stoppers, bikes, scooters and skates. There is baseball field, basketball courts, plenty of green space, a sand volleyball court, playground for kids under 5, and a larger playground for kids 5+. Plenty of swings and a covered pavilion with picnic tables.

*There are lots of large rocks surrounding the playground that kids are often tempted to run & jump on FYI!

Exeter Scenic River Trail

The Exeter Scenic River Trail, approximately 2 miles in length, is a great location for running, biking, and walking! The trail is pet friendly & jogging stroller/all terrain wagon/storller friendly.
Farming Ridge Park

Offering plenty to do for all ages, this is a nice and clean park. The playground offers two play areas for different ages: a toddler play area for ages 2-5 and an older play area for ages 5-12. This is a large park that has a bandstand, 3 pavilions, a fishing pond, a stream and a pool close by.
This park has something for everyone! In addition to a playground with slides, swings, log runs, and monkey bars, there is a large pool, huge lake you can fish in, rent kayaks and canoes, play frisbee golf, follow one of several hiking trails, enjoy a friendly game of basketball at the pool. If camping is your thing, there is regular camping, group camping and cabins available to rent. The playground is more for older kids however there are 2 baby swings and 3 baby slides.
There were eight different slides of varying heights, step stools, ladders, swirly poles, swings, a spiderweb, and a roundabout. A parking lot close by, a shaded pavilion, and nearby port-o-potty round out the thumbs up list. On the downside, it's not huge, some of the equipment seemed a little high/dangerous for toddlers

Grings Mill
Gring's Mill has 33 acres of green space, trails, and amenities for public use. This includes a playground, pavilions, restrooms, basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, plenty of green space, multiple parking lots, and restrooms. The walking trails are great for walking, running or bike riding- all are gravel trails.

Happy Hollow Playground

Kline's Creek Park

This park is tucked away in a neighborhood and away from any busy streets. The equipment is nicely maintained and has everything you would expect - plenty of slides and bridges and climbing apparatus. There are areas designated for ages 2-5 and 5-12, and the ground is lined with mulch. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables.

*Pavilion can be rented for parties/events.

Lorane Hollow Park
Mohnton Borough Playground
Also known as the "wooden castle playground", the Mohnton Playground is one of our favorites! This all wooden playground is a unique structure with lots of space to climb, crawl, hide, and explore! There is a play space for younger kids, sand, swings, a tire swing, and to make it better- it is right on a creek which is always a hit! Bring some water shoes and a towel and let the kids splash around, throw rocks, look for ducks, and maybe even find some fish.

The Mifflin Library also has their story walk at the Mohnton playground. The story walk path is paved- great spot to walk, push a stroller, bring the scooters or bikes. There are 2 baseball fields along the walk.

This park is tucked back off the main road, has plenty of shade, a pavilion, and something fun for everyone!

Muhlenberg Rail Trail

The Muhlenberg Rail Trail is a flat, paved trail stretching 1.8 miles between Temple and Laureldale—perfect for walking, jogging, running, and biking. It's also dog-friendly!

The trail also offers a Story Walk by the Berks County Public Libraries.
This scenic path is easy to access and ideal for all ages. We usually park at the Mt. Laurel Road entrance in Temple, which features an ADA-accessible ramp (though it is a bit steep).

Starting in Laureldale and walking toward Temple provides a nice route with a destination: the Temple Playground, located right next to the trail—perfect for kids or a relaxing break. It looked like they have added new pickle ball courts too

Pennwyn Playground

Pineland Park

Reading Public Museum Arboretum

The arboretum features walking paths, a creek, sensory garden, and a planetarium. The walking paths are paved, making it a great spot for strollers, bikes, scooters, and roller blades/skates. The walking paths are pet friendly!
Red Caboose Park
Shiloh Hills Park
South Mountain Playground
What a hidden gem! This park was absolutely adorable - great equipment, nicely maintained, excellent open spaces, and tucked away in nature with a backdrop of trees and greenery. There are great stretches of open fields for running and games. The main playground has plenty of slides, swings, and climbing opportunities with basketball, tennis, AND volleyball courts nearby.
